Happy, happy Friday! I have been anticipating this weekend for ages because it is the first weekend in quite some time that Mr. Pedantic and I will be spending with just each other. We do have a few tiny commitments here and there, but overall I will have him to myself.
January is at an end, and I have to say that it was rather splendid. I had purposed in my mind to intentionally enjoy the month that I have always met with such dread in previous years, and, to my delight, I did. Intentions really do have great bearing upon results.
February, on the other hand, was kicked off with a rather depressing load of tax prep which is likely my most hated task. While self-employment has its glamour, the downsides certainly make themselves known come tax time. Bleh. I need chocolate.
Speaking of which, have you had these dark chocolate orange sticks? They are so good if you keep them in the freezer. I love having them alongside my morning tea.
This guide on buying olive oil was spot on. My favorite every day olive oil is Trader Joe's Organic Unfiltered Greek Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
Have you made this sparkling blood orange chai yet? If not, this weekend is the perfect excuse!
Our tea stock was dwindling, so Mr. Pedantic and I put in a big order to Fortnum and Mason this past week. Their tea is our favorite. We especially love Countess Grey and Breakfast Blend. Tea is my daily vice.
I have an extra special surprise coming to you on Monday, followed by ALL of the Valentine's Day recipes! I cannot wait!
Happy, happy weekend!
Every time I turn around there is another pregnancy being announced or another baby shower being coordinated. It is spring, y'all, and the love is apparently almost as prevalent as the pollen.
This is just a tiny peek at the masses of honeysuckle that are currently blooming behind Norwyk Manor and scenting the humid, spring air with the most delicious of perfumes.
We are in the midst of what is predicted to be a seven-day-long rainstorm, and while I love listening to the sounds of thunder and pitter-pattering rain from indoors, this torrential weather is less than blissful when I have a soggy puppy and a massive, curly, bird's nest resting atop my head.
It is no secret that I am obsessed with Jessica's wonderfully indulgent site. Her recipes pop up constantly on my weekly menus and many have become weeknight staples. That being said, it is little wonder that I am completely infatuated with her latest cookbook, The Pretty Dish.
I am currently typing away on my laptop, praying that the puppy will stay asleep long enough for me to tackle the mass of frizzy insanity atop my head and enjoy a few minutes of self-care.
We are back at this weekday game and I am moving a little more slowly than I would like, but I am moving nonetheless and that is more than enough achievement at 5:31am.
Here we are! Another Friday, another pitcher of iced coffee to drink.
We are just a few days away from Mother' Day and we have mamas to love on and cupcakes to bake. Let's go!
Though her stigma is strong, I have always ridden against popular opinion. I love Mondays. I really do. They are so full of promise. A fresh, new week. A blank slate. A (hopefully) restful weekend backing me up as I get back down to my routine, which, albeit monotonous at times, brings me such comfort.
I have to admit to some fierce anxiety with the coming of this new month. I'll happily accept my own broken record status and once again state that is this year going by SO fast. Like, we are almost halfway through 2018. Just let that sink in. Um, I am going to need a coffee.
It is my comfort food of choice. If I feel like eating a hug, which I often do after an arduous work day, nothing will satisfy like a bowl of macaroni and cheese. I am constantly experimenting with new combinations of cheeses, and I have shared a few favorites over the years. See Brie Macaroni and Cheese or Truffled Lobster Macaroni and Cheese.
I'll admit that I was dragging my sandal-clad feet into this work week. Weekends are awfully hard things to let go of.
However, we are here nonetheless on this cool, springy Monday. And, as the adage goes, "when life gives you Mondays, make lemonade."
Okay, I took some artistic license, but it's my blog so I do what I want.
