I am quickly slipping into fall mode. Though I have been out of school for several years now, I still feel myself gearing up for the new season as if I were broaching a more stringent way of life, and in many ways, I think we are. As a beloved novelist once quipped, “life starts all over again in the fall.” Student or not, we have our planners in hand, sharpies color-coordinated, and there is an alluring compulsion to deface that lovely untouched book of lined paper by taking notes on...something. Many of you have already stopped reading and others are feeling nauseous, and to be fair, we are still a far ways off, but I know there are a few kindred hearts out there that are getting goosebumps right now. The summer has been a glorious interlude, but I am secretly excited to vanish into the realm of structure and long, productive work days once again. The fall allows us a deeper motivation for creative and hard work, at least in my experience. I have worked hard this summer, no mistake, but my work has taken a more relaxed vibe than it will once the trees begin to turn.
Also, as soon as the whether cools enough to legitimize a cardigan this biscotti is happening.
With all these thoughts of structure bouncing around in my head, I stumbled upon this article and I think there are more than a few bits of genius to be found. I especially loved the idea of giving each day a theme. I think it is something I do somewhat subconsciously already, but I would like to approach the concept with more intentionality in the next few weeks.

I am getting all kinds of sweet, sappy nostalgic vibes right now as the events of last year float to the surface of my mind. It's cliche, but it really does feel like just moments ago that I was knee-deep in wedding planning. I stumbled upon this post that is just over one year old now. I am sure this reminiscing will only swell as Mr. Pedantic and I attend one of my dearest friend's wedding tomorrow.
Months ago I would have been saddened by the loss of all that pressure, excitement, and anticipation, but now, as I sit in my own little home, entrenched in our own little routine, I could not be more content. Well, I could do without the bugs that seem to be assaulting our humble little manor, but that seems a small matter when the fragrance of tea hangs in the air and Mr. Pedantic's humming is heard in the background.
